Mary Jean Neath (nee Gibson), of Mount Forest, passed away at the Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Richard “Dick” Neath. Loving mother of Ron Neath and his wife Nancy of Milton. Cherished grandmother of Michelle and her husband Andrew Hoermann of Milton, Christine and her husband Stephane Ford of Milton, and Michael Neath and his wife Erin of Milton. Great-grandmother of Natalie, Nathan, Connor, Brayden, Edward and Iris. Loving aunt of Brenda and Paul Padfield, and Adele Gibson. Predeceased by her parents Albert Edward Gibson and Irene Maud (nee Philp) Gibson, her infant son, her sister Alberta Delotis, her brother Jack Gibson and her nephew Phil Gibson. Mary was a Veteran of the Navy in WWII, from September 1944 – April 1946 she was a motor transport driver delivering cargo to the ports in Victoria, B.C. which was going overseas. Mary was a long-time member and President of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and she was the founder of the Ladies Victory Tea which was held at the Legion on every Remembrance Day “Victory Day”. After the war Mary lived in Mount Forest for the rest of her life, she spent 20 years as an operator for Bell Canada and then 20 years as a loans officer at TD Bank. Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Saturday, December 15th from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service at 12:30 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. Spring interment of cremated remains at Mount Forest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Canadian Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
