SCHUG, Toni – Died unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at the Louise Marshall Hospital with his daughter Cindy and friend Leona at his side.

Toni was a loving father to Cindy Bhulai of Newmarket and Krista (Ian) Schug-Ringland of Northern Ireland. Dear Grandfather to Nigel (Shawna), Zachary, Josh, Ethan, Myles and Molly and great-grandfather to Addilyn and Jacob.

He is survived by his brother Wolfgang; the mother of his children, JoAnne Stack; sisters-in-law Peggy Stack, Susan (Charlie) Ogg, and Laurie Stack; brother-in-law Pat Stack; his Godson, Steve Langdon; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews here in Canada and Germany.

Toni immigrated to Canada from Bad Kreuznach, Germany in the late 50’s. In 1961 with his childhood friend Dieter, they hopped on the bus heading north to the mines to make their fortune but the money ran out and their bus ride ended in Mount Forest. By chance they were offered a job at Nobel’s Mink Ranch and later he built a house and started his own ranch outside of Holstein. He sold his “Land of milk and honey”, moved to town and started working at Phoenix Veneer where he retired when they closed. Toni was a happy, friendly man who loved people, nature and walking.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned for next year.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Toni are asked to consider the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation.  Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.
