Ellen K. Gregor

Gregor, Ellen Katherine – of Mount Forest, Ontario

It is with heavy hearts that we, the loving family of Ellen Gregor, regretfully announce her passing on Sunday March 3, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at the Guelph General Hospital.

Ellen was born on February 21, 1952 in Ottawa, Ontario.  She was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Kaulback) Albert.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Saumier (Mark) of Mount Forest, son; Andre Saumier (Vanessa) of Ottawa and grandson; Liam Higgins of Mississauga. Sister of Eileen (Dave), Bertha (Marshall), Henri (Pauline), Edward and Donald. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John “Buddy” Gregor whom she loved dearly and her step-son; Stephen Gregor.

John and Ellen were  inseparable and very supportive of each other.  They spent several years travelling to many destinations with their camper truck and boating on the Mira. Ellen had a few hobbies which included her favorite one, quilting.

Ellen spent her whole career with the government working in various positions and was one of the select few to receive a commendation for outstanding services as a civilian officer. She retired from the Mira, Marion Bridge N.S. where she enjoyed volunteering with various events as a member of the Bethel United Church, Marion Bridge. Due to struggles with health issues Ellen moved to Ontario to be close to her children.

Cremation has taken place and private interment will be held at a later date at Notre-Dame cemetery in Ottawa. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ellen are encouraged to select a charity of your choice.  Private arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest. Sincere condolences to Ellen’s family. I recall her speaking about all of her children on a regular basis during the time we worked together. Our offices touched for years at Citizenship and Immigration Canada in Sydney Nova Scotia. Ellen was part of my transfer from transport Canada to Cic, and I was forever grateful. We had quite a few laughs early in the mornings. She was very kind hearted and was always trying to help everyone as best as she could. And I always remember her extreme love of Rod Stewart.
