Karen Keir
Passed peacefully with family by her side on Friday, September 13, 2019. Karen, aged 66, was much loved by daughter Amy Pepper (John Pegg), grandchildren Jane and John, brother Andy (Susan), nephews Angus and Struan (Chloe). Karen was born and raised in Etobicoke. A math whiz at school, she went on to Queens University and captained a successful marketing business in Toronto for many years prior to moving to Mount Forest. After a 10 year career with the TD bank, Karen retired to enjoy volunteering, her cats, travel, gardening, friends and family. She was a loving, generous and compassionate person who met others’ needs ahead of her own. Karen had a smile and kind word for everyone she came in contact with. Some of her most joyful times were at the pond with the children. She loved her life in Mount Forest. Karen touched us all in a special way and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Cancer Patient Services or Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Condolences

My sincere condolences to Karen's family & friends on her recent passing. I always enjoyed a chat with Karen in the TD bank or on the street. She was a beautiful person. Rest in peace Karen. Marie Randall

Where do I begin...Karen was the sweetest and most genuine woman. From meeting her as one of her customers at TD Bank and she a patient where I worked to working alongside her at the bank, then the Thrift Shop to living around the corner from her and babysitting her cats for her I loved her smile and how she always put others above herself. One of my fondest memories is that she always, always asked how my daughters were doing and how beautiful they were. My funniest memory was when she scooted around on her "knee scooter" and seemed ok when you'd laugh with her about it. See you around Karen. XO.

My first wife and I met Karen & Trish at the airport in Lima, Peru, and we shared the entire Amazon journey together. My wife, Cyndy, was fighting cancer and lost the battle three months after we returned home. The Amazon trip was her lifelong dream. Our close friendship with Karen & Trish made the days and nights much more memorable because we shared our lives, loves, and memories with them along the way. Karen always went ahead to save our favorite table on the boat after we returned from the sightseeing trips. My wife Cyndy, tired after every excursion, always knew Karen would have our favorite spot in the dining room or the lounge and always looked forward to seeing her smiling face. She & Cyndy had a special connection and they shared several wonderful evenings. Today, Karen & Cyndy are sharing a glass of wine and reliving all the exciting moments from the Amazon. Thank You Karen. Thank You & Trish for being such a special friend for my wife’s last adventure.

I was devastated by the news of Karen's passing. We met while volunteering at the local thrift store, and as Toronto ex-pats and former marketers we had an immediate bond. I'll always treasure our friendship and fond memories, especially of our trip of a lifetime to the Amazon rainforest. Rest in peace, Karen, and I'll say "hi to David". xoxo

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Karen's passing. I remember how much laughter Karen and I shared while we worked together at TD Bank. Her laughter was infectious and genuine and lovely and musical. I am privileged to have shared 10 years working with her. Bless her precious soul. With love, Kim and Dean Bulloch, Addison, Abbey and Richard
