Mike Held
William Michael "Mike" Held passed away suddenly at his home in West Grey, ON on August 14th, 2019 in his 55th year.

Beloved husband of Cindy. Loving father of Devin and Dylan. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Barbara, his mother-in-law, Linda, and his father-in-law Albert. Cherished brother of Kim and John (Melanie), and brother-in-law of Tim and Amanda (Jeremy). Will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Bill, and sister-in-law Diane.

Mike enjoyed collecting vintage cars, racing memorabilia, and Evel Knievel collectibles. He enjoyed fishing on the lake with his family and riding his go-kart and mini-bike. He had a passion for the outdoors, planting many trees and gardens at his home and creating hiking trails. He was talented in creating metal art pieces, one of which was a giant rooster named Diamonds for his wife. Mike loved fixing things, from building cars from individual pieces, to renovating his homes on his own. His dream home was always one on a lake, and his dream came true over a year ago with his own private lake.

To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life for Mike Held will be held on Saturday, September 7th from 1 - 4 p.m. at Fisherville District Lions Community Centre, 18 Main Avenue West, Fisherville, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation or Big Brothers Big Sisters would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.

Condolences

I went to college with Mike. Mohawk, class of 1989. He was fun, shy, talented. He had a band and the class went to go see them out in ...Dunville? I can still hear his laugh, it was a little high and he would nod his head down. I have his hand written phone number in my book.

Cindy, Devin and Dylan, I send my sincerest condolences. I met Mike in the level 1 CWB classroom in Mississauga around 2005 and was blown away by his intelligence. As I got to know him better over the years since, I was equally amazed at his artistic ability, and his very unique interests! Devin and Dylan, I want you to know that your Dad was liked very much by his co-workers, and had a high quality standard on whatever project he touched. He will certainly be missed and always in our thoughts.

So sorry to hear about Mike. I worked with Mike for years and it was always fun and easy. I loved that he never really seemed to let anything bother him and took it all in stride. I think I may have seen him angry once but it was hard to tell cuz he was still smiling ;) I will miss him as will all his mates at work.

I’m very saddened to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to Cindy, their children and everyone in Mike’s family. Mike was a very dear friend. We worked together for many years and lived together on out of town projects. He made us all laugh with his stories and always kept things very light! He will be greatly missed by all of us and his many friends in the NDT industry. My deepest sympathy.
