REEVES, Michael “Mike” Harold - Found peace on Monday, August 17, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on July 30, 1957, Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather “Poppy”, and friend.
Loving husband of Lynn (McGregor); beloved father of Jaclyn, Megan and her husband Shawn Sinnamon, and Sean; the best Poppy to Dylyn, Nolan, and Liam Aitken, Hudson McDonald, Hunter and Rowan Sinnamon, and Aurora and Lincoln Reeves. Fondly remembered by Lina Dam.
Mike was the eldest son of Harold (deceased) and Marion Reeves. Greatly missed by his loving sister Cathy (Dwight) Benson, brother Jim, sisters-in-law Sue (Dick) Hunter and Laurie Williamson. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his in-laws Jack & Peggy McGregor and Larry Williamson.
Mike’s childhood was often spent at Grandpa Weber’s farm, riding his Pony Trixie and driving a beat-up old car in the fields. He was a part of the “Elgin Street Gang”, riding bikes, stealing peas from neighbours’ gardens, and generally wreaking havoc. Spending time with his many relatives at weekly family dinners had a deep impact on his life, leading him to truly believe in the importance of family and quality time. Mike met the love of his life Lynn, at the age of 18 where at a party, he turned up the charm and won her over. They were married August 30, 1980, and shortly after moved to Alberta where they started their family. Mike carried on the tradition of gathering with family. Whether it was brunch, dinner or just to watch a football game, he loved having everyone together.
Mike started his career alongside his father Toad, building bridges for Reeves Construction. His children have many fond memories of him proudly showing off his work with “Do you see that bridge? I built that bridge!”. Later, he started working for Waste Management, becoming lead hand and driver trainer until his retirement last June.
One of his most treasured past times was boating with Lynn on Georgian Bay, on “Wet Bikinis & Dry Martinis” with dear friends Kent and Sandy. Lasting memories were made travelling throughout Europe and the US with Dwight and Cathy.
His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy. He never missed an opportunity to attend birthdays, milestones, and was #1 fan in the stands watching them play hockey, lacrosse, baseball and dance.
Mike will be remembered for his kindness, humour, honesty, and his one-of-a-kind contagious laugh. He could come up with a nickname for anyone, or anything and if you spent any time with him, you would hear at least one of his many famous sayings. Although things will never be the same without him, he left us with many happy memories that we will cherish forever.
A come and go celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, 850 Princess Street, Mount Forest. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mike are asked to consider The Mark Preece Family House, Hamilton, or Cancer Patient Services, Mount Forest. Growing up with Christian, I met Mike and immediately I had respect for the man. It was my mission to make him laugh. No one could light up a room like Mike with a laugh.
He was the only man to call me a pelican. I still don’t know why or how a pelican related to me but I took it as long as Mike would laugh at my jokes.
He was a special man and his laugh will be in my memories forever.
