Theodore “Ted” Lucas
LUCAS, Theodore “Ted” - Born February 1, 1936 in Naaldwijk, Netherlands and passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in his 85th year. Cherished husband of Mary Lucas for 63 years.  Much loved father of Jim and Tammy Lucas, Jeannie and Mike Boylan, Betty and Warren Small, Ted Lucas and Peggy Heipel, Debbie and Mike David, and Vickie and Greg Mighton. Grandfather of Angie, David, Matthew, Danielle, Jessica, Hailly, Justin, Tanner and Kelsey. Great Opa of 9 great-grandchildren.  Ted immigrated to Canada from Netherlands in 1952 with his parents and siblings to start a new life in Canada.  He worked many jobs including baker, and truck driver in Toronto and then met the love of his life, married in June of 1957 and started their life together.  They eventually moved to Mount Forest with their three young children, and had a chicken farm on Waterloo Street. They added three more children and moved to their second farm on Seven Bridges Road where they ran the chicken farm for over 12 years. They retired early from the farm, and Ted bought the Holstein Garage, and ran that along with selling used cars for many years. He also ran a trucking company, JT Lucas Transportation where both his sons were employed.  Through this time, he was also very involved in his community, coaching and managing many hockey teams to success, and was instrumental in the forming of the Mount Forest Patriots Jr. C Hockey Team.  He was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His presence will be deeply missed by his siblings, Christine Harper, Betty DeGroot, Ellie Webers, Hennie Toushan, and Frank Lucas.  Predeceased by his parents Peter and Elizabeth (DeJong) Lucas, his brother Peter, and sister Nellie.  Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Tuesday, December 1st, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  In order to attend the visitation, you must contact the funeral home to register by e-mail at info@englandfuneralhome.com or calling (519) 323-2631. Please note: as per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance numbers will be restricted, masks are mandatory and COVID-19 protocols are in place.  A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Purification Roman Catholic Church with inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ted are asked to consider Cancer Patient Services.  Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home.

Dear Mary and Family, my deepest condolences and thoughts go out to you all! I know my mom Anna was always impressed and enjoyed his piano music, Ted and Mary being such lovely neighbours to her from the time she moved in Canada and Curve Rock in 2008. Je gaat een treurige tijd tegemoet Mary, maar mooie herinneringen zullen je er doorheen helpen. Veel liefs en we denken aan je! Ingrid
