Condolences

Memories are golden, Well, maybe that is true. I never wanted memories only wanted you. The Great North Winds, Have swept you away, When I have so much I needed to say I start to cry my final tears, In my heart I will hold you so dear

— A Dear Friend, January 1, 2010

My dearest Caroline, I am thinking of you at this difficult time. I leave you another poem. When I came to the end of my journey, And traveled my last weary miles, Just forget if I have ever frowned, And remember only the smiles. Forget any unkind words I have spoken, Remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had heartache, And remember I had loads of fun. Forget when I stumbled and blundered, And sometimes fell by the way, Remember I have fought some hard battles, And won at the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day. But in summer, just gather some flowers, And remember the place where I am. And then in the shade of the evening, When the sun paints the sky in the west. Stand for a few minutes with me, And remember only my best. Brenda Northrop
