In Memory of my dear Father William Thomas Cole
Born October 26 1934, to Oct 7th 2020 in my fathers 86th year
A beloved father, husband and friend, A Civil Engineer at Stelco, 40 years to the day he retired. A beloved scout leader, an avid curler. A long time member of The Toastmasters Society.
Along with a wonderful sense of humour, My Father had to be one of the kindest people I have ever met. Always kind and considerate and friendly to everyone he met. And everyone who met him, loved him so very much. He loved history and travelling and his family, camping, 60's music and reading, reading about history of any kind was his favorite. A very patient man!
My dear dad may not have been able to carry a tune like the rest of the family but he did love music and he was Incredible at math , and so talented at building literally anything you asked him to build he would figure it out! He built our sauna on Glenn Afton with our neighbor Mr Hammond , many of your remember the Sauna! He made our van into a camper, made it into a kitchen at dinner with a table and chairs that at night turned into 2 large sleeping beds. He could build anything. He was such an intelligent man!
I hated brownies and girlguides so so much, So being a scout leader, my dad took me to scouts on a few occasions so i could actually do some cool things, even though the boys did not feel to happy about , which made me love it even more lol. What a great thing to do for your daughter!
Always staying behind with me when i was sick and could not go to family reunions, when we went out west and the boys rode off into the sunset while dad stayed back with me to walk around on a pony as i was to small to ride off into the sunset. Teaching me backgammon.. those were the best nights while making hashy doo and playing backgammon together.
Dad would always come in to kiss me goodnight on my forehead, i was usually passed out like a light by then, as he did religiously with all three of us, i wish i was still that little kid waiting for my dad to tuck me in!
My father was always there for me, always supporting me and loving me unconditionally, not only was he my Father he was my dear dear friend who i looked up to and love with all of my heart, i can also now knowingly say i would have given my life for his in a second as i watched his slip away.
I miss you and love you with all of my heart and soul DAD. You are missed by all of us. May you rest in peace and may we meet again. My heart is broken with you gone. I love you Dad!

We have lost one of the good guys, my dad, Tom. One of my first memories of my dad is riding on his feet the second he got home from work at around 5:30 each workday. He would walk all the way to the kitchen with one or more of us on him. I bet some days he was dead tired but he always smiled when he got home. Dad was a reliable man, a gentleman and a good father to Leslie, Ian and I. Very patient with us over the years and was always right there when you needed him. I am going to miss him dearly and will always remember the good parts of his long life. Rest in peace dad, we love you! Mike

My dearest father in law, I am so very sad to see you leave us. I know that you are now free from pain and I hope you are at peace. I will miss you forever. If you only knew how much of an impression you left on me and our entire family over the years. As one of my friends said, you gave us a “Universe of goodness”! I felt a connection with you that very first day we met back in Feb ‘86. You kindly invited me to dinner with the family after me only know Mike a very short time. We bonded over chemistry and nature:) Your love for Mike, Ian and Leslie was unending, consistent and without condition or constraint. You always seemed to take things as they came tried to share a good dose of wisdom. You made such a positive impression on all who met you. My father didn’t make fast friends easily, but he absolutely looked forward to seeing you and chatting off at the side of our many family parties. My mother and brother hold you in such high regard. You and Elizabeth were such amazing grandparents to Bobby and Kelsi. Each summer was a new week long adventure of camping, horseback riding or cottaging. Those thanksgivings in Hope Bay collecting apples and beech nuts and making apple brown betty will always be an amazing memory. Thank you for sharing your Hogan with us, he gave us great joy when you and Elizabeth went off on your elder hostel adventures to Killarney ON, Africa, South America, the Midwest US and many more! Your nieces and nephews (Janet and Gordon) have shared some beautiful stories that they learned from your brothers Doug and Jack. They always saw you as the kind gentle soul that you were, with a quick belly laugh. I am always so happy to hear the stories they tell of times when I did not know you. I loved hiking with you and our family at Points farms, Goderich, Mount Forest, Dundas and many more. Especially when Hogan would go search for the kids. I think you found that very amusing. I hope you knew how much you meant to me. Rest in Peace Tom, all my Love, Donna
