Gillies, Gordon; suddenly at his home in Mount Forest on Thursday March 3, 2011. Gordon Alexander Gillies in his 65th year. Beloved companion of Mary Lou Burke. Father of Vicki Taddeo & husband Romeno of Guelph and Colleen Nelson & husband Scott of Moorefield. Stepfather of Dave Burke & wife Tina of Harriston. Grandfather of Kevin and Curtis Taddeo and Heidi and Madeleine Nelson. Step grandfather of Josh Gerber of Mount Forest. Loved brother of Florence Harper & husband Robert of Arthur Township, Marlene Harper & husband Bruce of Arthur Township, Harvey Gillies & wife Betty of Pike Lake and Mervyn Gillies of Harriston. Brother-in-law of Ethel Gillies of Cedarville. Gordon is survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Predeceased by his parents Ralph & Florence Gillies, brothers Carman, Kenneth, John, Donald and Keith Gillies, sister Betty Abercrombie & husband Edwin and sister-in-law Helen Roth. Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Mount Forest United Church on Monday March 7th at 11:00a.m. Spring interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. We met but a few times on my visits to Mount Forest,but Gord made a huge impression on me with his happy outlook on life and his willingness to always be a help to anyone. I feel as though I have lost a member of my family rather than a holiday friend. Mount Forest will feel empty without him.
