Condolences

My heart and thoughts have been with your family from the moment I heard the news. Janice and I started working at Therapy Plus within 1 week of each other back in 2002. We were both physios working in peds, both named Janice. She serviced the eastern areas or Grey-Bruce, and I the west. We did a couple of physiotherapy courses together in those early days and got to know each other better. It was clear she was dedicated to the kids she worked with. We went through many ups and downs with the company we worked for, and all through it, Janice remained positive always focusing on the kids she was helping. At her celebration of life, I learned that Janice carried these attributes in all areas of life, not just her career. She was loved by so many, and losing her has taken a heavy toll on us all, especially her family. Heaven has gained an angel, but she will be forever missed here on earth. She will remain in our hearts and never be forgotten. I feel honoured to have known such a beautiful person. Your family is in my heart and prayers at this difficult time.

She always had a smile and a amazing disposition . She offered great ideas and always had a ear for listening to our delemmas. I heart and thoughts go out to her family!

My daughter Natalie and I first meet Janice Bye 12 years ago on Natalie's first week of school of JK. I as a mom was very anxious to meet our new PT for the first time because for those that know me, know that I always come with a list. Natalie was pretty independent but needed the right equipment for school. A stander for stretching, a commode for toileting, exercise and stretches, an accessible spot to write and more... But Janice got it done!! When Natalie started grade one, after day three she was in the hospital because of lack of EA support. She was tired and dehydrated. Janice helped get that EA support so Nat could go to school and be looked after each day. A few years later Natalie had her entire spine fused and again Janice was there from start to finish making sure my list was fulfilled. It was fulfilled and so much more with follow up calls and home visits. The following year a friend of ours was driving his wheelchair from London to Ottawa and as a test run he drove his wheelchair and his crew with Natalie and Janice and Alex rode their bikes with them! Shortly after that fall we had a fundraiser for Easter seals, a bday party as Natalie's wish after her first year at camp and guess who was there... The fabulous Janice with her kids and friends. Our life has had its up and downs and Janice has been there to help get equipment, help with renovation ideas, help with exercises, gave me her cell phone number for when I needed it and also before and after surgery care (to which Natalie noticed janice's stethoscope needed her name on it and just had to make her beads that said Janice). Janice wasn't just a physiotherapist that checked in and out at the end of the day. She was also a friend who went above and beyond in so many ways and not because she had too, because she wanted too!! We are sad, devastated and selfish knowing she won't be here to help with recovery after Natalie's surgery this summer... I know Janice and her family have had some sad stories of there own, but I could tell by the pictures at the funeral home that even from day one she was a happy, sweet, loving and caring person. In her 47 years you can see the love she has spread and by the messages left that people cared for Janice as she cared for them. You truly get in life what you put out. Janice was amazing, she gave with all her heart and will be truly missed by everyone. We would like to thank Janice's family for choosing Easter Seals as the charity of choice... Janice I'm sure wrote hundreds of letters to Easter Seals over the last 20 years asking for funding so all of our children could get the much needed equipment. Janice will forever be in our hearts and her true spirit will be never be forgotten.

Alexa and family; it was years ago that I first met you at the swimming pool but I have never nor will ever forget the grace and poise that exuded from your mother. Her soft spoken voice was sometimes drowned out by the more exuberant sounds from myself and other coaches. The pain and loss you are feeling may not be soothed today, but take comfort in knowing mom's spirit and life lives on in you all. Thinking of you today and always.

— Talk McGovern, June 16, 2015

Our deepest sympathy Rob, Alex, Sam, Weber and Bye families. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rob, Alexa, Sam and family...We were heartbroken when we heard the news of Janice’s death. Janice supported our daughter from Grade 3 through to her first year of University and was one of the few individuals we met through our journey that advocated for her independence and rights. She was an amazing woman, PT and friend. The love for her family, her work and others radiated from her. May fond memories comfort each of you. Carolyn, Peter, Josh and Brooklyn

— The Marx Family, June 16, 2015

I had the privilege of working with Janice for a number of years. I was always impressed with her knowledge, her ready laugh and her complete capacity to be "unflappable" even when others around her were twisting themselves into a knot about something. I know she cared deeply for her clients and I cannot fully imagine the pain and sadness you as family members are feeling with her loss. My hope is that somehow, knowing the countless ways that she has positively touched so many lives will be a source of comfort and assurance as well as an ongoing inspiration. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Kathy
