Robert

ARMSTRONG, Robert “Bob” – Peacefully on Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at the age of 72. Cherished husband of Daphne Rappard. Loving father of Todd Armstrong (Victoria MacAskill) and Kevin Armstrong. Dear grandfather of Lars and Sutter. Survived by his brother Bill (Eleanor) Armstrong, sisters-in-law Marion (Tjebbe) Jaeger and Renée Nunan-Rappard. Bob will be missed by his extended family, including his nephews, nieces, and Amanda Zmija. Predeceased by his brother John “Jack” Armstrong and brother-in-law Tom Nunan.

An avid outdoorsman, mentor, and keeper of trails and ducks, his legacy will outlast him for many years, tempering the effects of cancer, Parkinson’s, and dementia in later years.

A come-and-go informal gathering will be held at the Cork Street Pavilion, Mount Forest, on Friday, July 30th, 2021 from 3:00-5:00pm. COVID protocols will be in place and mask wearing is encouraged. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to consider Make-A-Wish Canada, Mount Forest United Church-Green Team (local tree planting) or Ducks Unlimited Canada. Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.

Condolences

Daphne and family: my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

— Doris Carmount, July 27, 2021

I'm so sad to hear this news. Bob was part of our Ducks Unlimited Canada family. He participated in every aspect of our programs including fundraising events, provincial conventions, district volunteer appreciation nights, our conservation programs, and his greatest passion: helping to introduce local youth to wetlands and the outdoors. We will miss him and always remember him as an important member of our DU family. Our heartfelt condolences to his family - may warm memories bring you peace, and may Bob be ever surrounded by all the things in nature that he loved.

Our condolences Daphne, Todd and Kevin and all other family members. Bob was a fun guy with a great sense of humour and I remember good times on 'runs' to various sporting goods stores from Orillia to Underwood and other places in between. There were 3 or 4 of us in the vehicle, stopping for lunch somewhere and really enjoying the day. Our chats about fishing and hunting gear were always a great learning time for me and I do miss that.

Our condolences Daphne. We have great memories of the fun times you and Bob shared with Lily and Cherry playing in your garden and in the house. Lily always felt safe walking to school knowing that Uncle Bob was just around the corner if she needed a safe place. I am truly thankful that Bob was one of her to pick me up at school if needed. We are just around the corner and a phone call away.

Time may heal the broken-hearted, time may make the wound less sore;
Time will never stop the longing for the loved one gone before.

Bob was a great teacher and mentor who generously shared his understanding of care for creation. Directly and indirectly Bob supported many young people and their interest in nature. Who else could have given George the training required to become a hunter! Lots of good stories to remember. Our sympathy to all of the family. George and Bonnie Holliday

We are so sorry to hear of Bob’s death. We are thinking about you Daphne.
You and Bob helped make our church what it is today.
What you two and others on your team did for Ducks Unlimited is nothing short of amazing.
So many fond memories of the auctions.
Our children loved bidding on everything from chairs to shot guns.
Bob taught Harry, Sandy and Tom gun safety.
That was fun too.
Rest In Peace Bob.
