Marilyn Elizabeth Speers

SPEERS, Marilyn Elizabeth - Peacefully at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest on Monday, August 23, 2021 in her 86th year.  Beloved wife of the late John Roy Speers (2011). Loving mother of Karen Wetteskind & her husband Juergen of St. Clements, Cameron Speers of London and Sharon Speers-Lloyd & her husband Brian of Thornton. Loving grandmother of Sebastian & Sarah Wetteskind, Alec & Maxine Speers and Trevor & Travis Lloyd. Dear sister of Doug Pearce and his wife Wanita. Marilyn is predeceased by her mother Florence Pearce (née Walkington) and by her brother Robert “Bob” Pearce.  Her father Eric Pearce died at a very young age.

Marilyn taught elementary school in the Caledon area for many years, while working on the farm with her husband John.  After selling the farm, they retired to Mount Forest, creating lasting memories and making great friendships with their neighbours. A private graveside service was held at the Caledon East Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Marilyn are asked to consider the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation. Marilyn’s family would like to thank all the staff at Strathcona Long Term care for the excellent care and compassion that she received. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.

Condolences

Our sympathy to the family at this time. Marilyn was a great neighbour especially when we were new to Mount Forest. We enjoyed many trips to play cards together and many trips through the back yard to visit. It was especially nice to have met Marilyn’s family as well. We will miss her

Dear Family,

We were sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. When we moved to Mount Forest several years ago, we did not know anyone and both Marilyn and John made us feel very welcomed to the town. They were great neighbours.

Karen, Linda, Cameron and families.
We are so very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. They were such great neighbours. We remember all the good times we had together. The street BBQ's, the Christmas dinners, the card parties, especially the one the power went out and your Dad and Alan hooked up a generator and we continued playing and the day trips we took. We will always have those special memories. Your happy memories will help you get through the sad times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
