HOTSON, Joyce Mary - Peacefully, but unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Louise Marshall Hospital in her 101st year. Predeceased by her husband Arthur Moses Hotson (1998). Loving mother of Bernie Hotson and his wife Susan, Jennifer Hotson, and Geoff Hotson and his wife Debbie. Beloved grandmother of Sarah Rice (Shannon), Erin, Matthew, Mark and great-grandmother of Wilde. Joyce is survived by her younger sister Brenda Bates (late Vernon Bates). She will be missed by her nephews Nigel and Tony, her nieces Beverley and Sylvia, her extended family and many friends. Predeceased by her sister Clarry, and brothers Reg and George.
Joyce loved horses, whether it was her own in younger years, or the horses of friends and family. She enjoyed hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joyce loved being outside, especially when she was fishing. She was a voracious reader, an artist in oil painting and enjoyed music. Above all, she cherished her family. Her memory will live on in their hearts forever.
Private funeral service will be held at the England Funeral Home. Cremation to follow with interment in the Mount Forest Cemetery.

I am saddened to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a lovely lady, and a good neighbor to my family where I grew up next door. I was pleased to introduce our baby girl to her this summer after she had celebrated her 100th birthday, at which point she said in her quiet humor that she had just celebrated her first hundredth birthday and was working on her second. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you grieve.
