Ruth Nora McLellan

McLELLAN, Ruth Nora (née Weber) – Ruth was called to rest on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Gordon McLellan (1992). Ruth was born in Minto Township to Henry and Henrietta (Rolufs) Weber. In 1946 she married Gordon and they farmed in Arthur Township all of their married life. They raised a family of six children. Cherished mother of Dorothy McNabb (Donald), Velma Manser (Barry), Debbie Hawkrigg (Scott), the late Marilyn Wagner (Hans), the late Beverly Gordon McLellan, and the late Barbara McLellan. She was very much loved by her nine grandchildren: David (April), Dan (Sonya) and Derek McNabb; Michael (Donna) and Lynda Manser (Lyndon); Robert (Becky) Wagner; Lori Hawkrigg (Cody), Shannan Hawkrigg-Nagy (Ian) and Jamie (Alexandra) Hawkrigg. Ruth was blessed with many wonderful great-grandchildren. Survived by her dear sister Helen Gascho, sisters-in-law Isabella and Shirley McLellan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brothers Albert, Norman, Bill and Meinert Weber and by sisters Alma Dowling, Gladys Greenwood, Marie Mallett and Verna Elliott. 

Ruth’s strong commitment to God, and to her family, was evident in her love and kindness to all. The family is very thankful for the excellent care provided by the staff and volunteers of Strathcona Long Term Care.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Wednesday, April 13th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Masks are not mandatory but strongly encouraged to protect vulnerable family members. A private funeral service will be held at St. John’s Evangelical-Lutheran Church, Mount Forest. Spring interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. Donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to St. John’s Evangelical-Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I met her many times when I would be taking part in the church services that we would bring in, to the previous nursing home.
