Funeral Service for Vietta Watson

Condolences

To Jamie and family. Saddened to hear of your lovely mother’s passing. She was always so nice when we were kids. Great memories with growing up with the best of friends.

You were raised by very good parents, my father brought it up often during our school days. Your dad told me that they very much enjoyed a mutual respect and friendship for one another when he attended dad’s visitation. Love you always my friend, Jack.

David & I express our condolences to all the family members for the loss of your wonderful mother, Vietta. She was a supportive Aunt to me, beginning early to teach me arithmetic and reading before elementary school age. Unknowingly, she inspired my career decision(s), fun of learning and importance of education. I know that she gave her own family these same values. Although still in grade school, I recall her sense of fashion as a high school “sweater girl” and
band majorette. In fact I remember the bruised elbows after practices with the baton.
This was well worth her effort because she met her future husband, Alex, a bagpiper in the same band. After finishing high school and starting their careers, I was a guest at their wedding. Many years on, they were guests at our wedding and Uncle Alex played the bagpipes!
We hope that the lovely memories bring you peace at this difficult time.
Love Carolyn & David Scobie

Cheryl, Ron, Doris, Jamie and Families:

Nobody can ever say that Vietta was anything less than amazing. She sure was a true friend of my mother, and a confident to every kid on the block. From being a homemaker, mother, wife to Alex and supporter of his many ambitions, she was also the trusted clerk of Egremont for many, many years.

I would laugh at my mother laughing as Vietta laughed her way thru trying to explain something funny that had recently happened to her….. a characteristic that all of you, especially Doris, ardently inherited early on in life.

The Hoffman subdivision (Maple Rock Estates) would not be here today if it weren’t for Vietta.
She was instrumental in helping create this beautiful neighbourhood built just north east of Mount Forest in the south part of the Township.
In the early 90’s the clerk was planner, liaison with the county, and the go to person to determine the viability of an idea, and how it may or may not be received by the public before it ever went to council.

Our family and the community in general owe a lot to Vietta and her contribution and support of organized rural living within our Township.

Like our mother Tootie, Vietta was a prisoner of her own mind the last decade of her life. We understand your relief of her being pardoned of this sentence, much as we were when our mother passed.

Thinking of you all
