Jason Hrick

HRICK, Jason David
February 8, 1985 – July 22, 2024
Our son, brother, and dear friend died following a quiet and courageous battle with cancer in London, Ontario on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the age of 39.
Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Jason was a sweet, thoughtful, and gifted child. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 (Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies), Jason became an accomplished business professional. His career at the top of the sports and stadiums industry took him from his hometown all over the world, working in Florida, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Throughout his professional and personal travels, Jason made a deep impact on many people’s lives. His easy wit, humour (sometimes dark), empathy, and kindness quickly endeared him to those with whom he crossed paths. He was a very private person, but a fierce and deeply loyal friend. “Jay” found the most joy in life when he was making his professional mark in the industry he was passionate about, and making his friends and co-workers laugh and feel special, which he did daily. “Jay” was truly a wonderful, fiercely intelligent, kind, and special person.
Predeceased by his grandparents Betty Seldon-MacFarlane (1928-2024) and Andrew MacFarlane (1928-2002), Jason was, and continues to be, the beloved son of Elizabeth Seldon. He will be deeply missed by his sister Pam (Kristyn Watterworth); his nephew Paxton Watterworth; his aunts Catriona MacFarlane-Reed (Travis Reed) and Cathy Dance; and his many friends from all around the world, including those who were also his family: Katherine Game (Tom “Gus” Graham), Stephen Greatorex, Olivia Keenan, Nikki Stantsos, Jamie Crowley (Jessica), and Cassie Cameron. With their friendship dating back many years, Katherine provided exceptional care and companionship to “Jay” over the past several months, for which we are all extremely grateful.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Ingersoll Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or a donation, please honour Jason’s memory by recognizing the kindness, warmth, and love of those around you, and holding them dear.
Condolences

Much love!
Jason,
The moments, memories and adventures we shared working for Ovations are some of the most fond I have.
Whether it be a road trip to open a new venue, carrying building coin in my maternity pants or the unlimited great conversations, stories of your wonderful grandma and laughs we shared over the years.
You were absolutely one of my favourite people!
Thank you for being you.
May you rest in peace dear friend,
XO Kimmy Gibler/Chef Kim/ All of the other funny names you used to give me.

I am so, so saddened to hear of Jay’s passing. We were Parliamentary Pages together in Toronto so many years ago and he was always and continues to be a source of such fond memories and laughter. Sending my sincerest condolences to Jason’s family and friends. My heart goes out to you all at the loss of such a genuine and kindhearted man. Xoxo
— Kerry McKinlay, July 29, 2024We are so sorry that Jason has passed. We remember him from weeks at the lodge. He was a teen then and would avoid having photos taken. We remember helping to corral Pam and him to get a couple of family photos! Thankfully it was successful. Since our lodge days we have been kept up to date with his many accomplishments and adventures by Mom, Liz.
He will be mourned and well remembered by many all over the world.
Bob, Heather and Laura
A remarkable person. My condolences.

Jay you are one in a million buddy. I find it very difficult to think of a more genuine person I had the privilege of being a friend. You are so funny and smart and I truly cherish all the great times we spent together growing up. There's so many core memories that I could go on forever, I wish we could laugh our asses off reminiscing about it all. I'm so sorry we grew apart the last few years. Also the word 'MOST' is in the Oxford English Dictionary, I can confirm that from a previous scrabble game at Patterson Kaye like 25 years ago. I love you brother.
— Adam Samela, July 26, 2024My deepest condolences to your family and all who knew him. I hope there is a small amount of comfort found in recalling great memories of Jason’s too short time with everyone.
— David Palumbo, July 26, 2024I am so incredibly sorry for your loss! Jason was a part of many cherished childhood memories up north and I loved seeing where life took him through his work.
Please accept condolences from the whole Spinks family.
Such a huge loss,
I watched you as a little kid at your grandparents -- to becoming a very accomplished adult.
