Condolences

Dear family
Sending my deepest condolences. I worked with Shirley back in the late 80s and early 90s at the L &M in Mount Forest.
She was a lovely woman to work with. Hard worker with a great sense of humor. Superb work ethics and a great mentor. RIP Shirley.

I will miss her deeply. I have many happy memories of conversations with her, stories she told, and of going over her scrapbooks, as I'm sure you do. She will always be remembered!

So sorry to hear about Shirley's passing, what a wonderful woman! First time I met Shirley, she was a cashier at the L&M, I'd come in with community living clients, Shirley was never frassled with some of the antics!
Then we were blessed to have Shirley and Hugh as neighbours in Varney! Shirley never had a negative word to say about anyone, she was a real gem! What an angel, and now I'm sure she's singing among them.
Shirley will be missed by many......................our condolences to the family

I was sad to read about Shirley’s passing. She always took the time to reminisce when our paths crossed at NoFrills. Mom also retold old stories of the many good times she had with both Shirley and Hugh. Shirley will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Shirley’s family.

Ah Shirley. You will be missed. It has been a long time since we have been together but I looked forward to your yearly Christmas cards with a little note. (not last year though due to postal strike). I got frequent updates on how you were doing from my brother Jay and most recently asked him to give you a hug from me. You were definitely one feisty lady who took great pride in her gardens I know. But I think you are in a better place now, no more trouble breathing and all the other symptoms you suffered from. Hugs to all!

— Judy Barrette-Flint, June 7, 2025

I express my deepest sympathy in this time of grief. The Bible promises that your loved one will soon live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Shirley’s passing. Living on the farm close to her and Hugh, I have many fond memories of their kindness and generosity. Hugh would often come over to help my dad “renovate” the old farmhouse, and his willingness to lend a hand spoke volumes about the kind of people they were—always ready to help, always full of warmth.

Over the years, I was fortunate to see Shirley and catch up with her, and I will always treasure our conversation at my mom’s celebration of life just a few short years ago. She was always so proud of her family. Her kindness and presence in the community were truly special, and she will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Dodds family. May you find comfort in the memories of her love and kindness.

Shirley, you will deeply be missed by so many people you have touched over the years. Our deepest condolences to the family, who she spoke of often and would often share her library of photos. She was a wonderful neighbor (known as the neighborhood gramma to many), always had a story tell and we will miss her feisty spirit. She could always be found in her garden or entertaining as she wasn't one to stay still for long. May your memories of her give you all peace at this difficult time, she will never be forgotten. ❤️
