STEWART, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” – Passed away peacefully at her residence in Holstein on Friday, November 14, 2025 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her cherished husband, Allie Stewart (1990). Beloved mother of Jim Stewart and his wife Kim; and grandmother of Andrew Stewart (Laura McDonagh) and Brett Stewart. Remembered by her niece and nephews: Betty Marshall (Bruce Armstrong), Bob Marshall, and Ron (Rosanne) Marshall. Predeceased by her sister Rose (Bill) Marshall, and parents James and Mary Clarke.
Betty was a long-time volunteer in the breakfast program at Mount Forest Public School and Egremont Community School. She considered many of the children to be her “grandchildren” and many of them lovingly called her “Nana”. She was a people person at her core, and cherished the many friendships she made over the years. She will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Friday, November 21st from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 116 Fergus Street North, Mount Forest, on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Following the service, all are invited to the church hall for refreshments and fellowship. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Betty are asked to consider the Nutrition Program at Egremont Community School (Holstein).
