Brenda Meyer

MEYER, Brenda – Peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Guelph General Hospital in her 68th year. Beloved wife for 45 years to Peter Meyer. Loving mother of Benjamin Meyer and his wife Anna Czemiel.

Cherished Nana of Maxim and Cecilia. Dear sister of Barbara Tone and her late husband Robert, late Wayne Stortz and his wife Barb, Janet Freiburger and her husband Norm, and Jim Stortz and his wife Marg. Brenda will be sadly missed by special friends Susan and Shannon, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents Leonard and Helen Stortz, and her nephew Dwayne Stortz.

She was an Auxiliary Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 134 (Mount Forest) and also a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She successfully hosted a High Tea, raising over 20 thousand dollars for Ovarian Cancer, while going through her own cancer treatments.

The family would like to thank Brenda’s cancer care team, especially Dr. Kumar, Dr. Hirte, Dr. Russell, and all of the nursing staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre; the staff at the Louise Marshall Hospital, especially Dr. Goytisolo, Dr. Maurus, and Dr. Law; and the doctors and staff at Guelph General Hospital for all their care and support given to Brenda over her cancer journey.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Sunday, January 4th from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Mary of the Purification Parish, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest. Brenda, we honour the body that you were, the words you spoke, the passions that moved you, the love you shared and the life you lived. These were not always easy to live or to live with, but they were always you, and we honour you in that wholeness. We grieve that you are no longer present in our life. We allow ourselves to hurt and to heal, whatever form that takes and however long it takes.
Whole and Holy Earth, take back the body of Brenda that was formed from you. Make new forms and lives from it. May a piece of Brenda's life infuse the new lives that grow from it. May the passing forms of this life and the tears of our grief sustain the web of your creation. May your journey be swift and may you now be at peace. Amen.

Our deepest condolences to Pete and all the extended family. Please know you are being held in our thoughts and prayers. I had the honour of working with Brenda on the LMH Foundation Gala Committee, but first met Brenda when we became patients at the Dental Clinic. She was always smiling and welcoming, Brenda will be greatly missed!

I remember Brenda as wonderful, dedicated, hard working, and caring soul. She was such a delight to be around. She welcomed and respected everyone she met as office manager at Dr. McFarlane's dental office and in the community. She was devoted to every patient, making sure each one felt special and well cared for. She would always look after me in and outside of the dental practice and welcomed me into her life, treating me as one of the family (meals were always awesome); she will be sorely missed. Brenda was a courageous fighter; we are blessed to have had her in our lives, and our lives are all the better because of her. To Pete, Ben, Anna and their children: Ruth and I are so very sorry for your loss; Brenda was taken far too soon. Although only a minor consolation, it is comforting to know that she was able to watch Ben become such a fine young man, to marry Anna and to enjoy her wonderful grandchildren. There is a huge hole where Brenda used to be, but her memory will live on forever.

What words are in the English language to even come close to expressing our sympathies to your family and friends that are without your larger than life presence and love?....God gave us all a very special gift in her life lived on earth...May we all strive to be more like her...she sure set a wonderful example of strength, courage, grace, generosity and love.....and oh my...her incredible flare for fashion and elegance even in the depths of her battle with a horrible enemy called cancer....till we meet again.....

— Sherry Kerr/home hardware, January 3, 2026

— Trina Collette Larter, January 3, 2026

Pete, Ben, Anna & family,
Brenda had a way of making people feel truly important just by being herself. She gave 200% to everything she did. She was kind without effort, generous with her time, and always took the time to listen. Nothing mattered more to her than her family — and the love and pride she had for each of you was always so evident. If you were lucky enough to be considered part of her family, even without being related, you felt it in every way. The care and love she shared so freely left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her and be loved by her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she had will always remain. We are so sorry for this loss for her family, friends, and community.
With heartfelt sympathy,
