MAAS, Johannes “John” – Passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the age of 67 years. Beloved husband for 47 years of Sandra Maas (née Baker). Loving father of Amanda Maas (Shane McKenzie), Ashley (Tyson) Derkach, and Adam Johannes Maas (Alex). Cherished Papa of Kaydence, Olivia, Avrey, Sophie, Colton, Maddy, Kyran, Nixson, Brennley, and Myles. Dear son of Wilhelmina Maas, and brother of Wilma (Doug) McLean, Joanne (Glen) Alexander, Wally (Allison) Maas, Cathy (Frank) Higdon, Frank Maas, and Tony (Carol) Maas. Brother-in-law of Jeff (Marian) Baker, David (Liana) Baker, and Michael (Debbie) Baker. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his father Johannes Maas, father-in-law Art and June Baker, mother-in-law Eva and Glen Clarke, and niece Stephanie Baker.
Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Wednesday, March 11th from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 116 Fergus Street North, Mount Forest, on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134, 140 King Street West, Mount Forest for a reception and fellowship. Those unable to attend the funeral service are invited to view a livestream of the service by clicking the link below John’s obituary. Cremation to follow. Private family interment will be held in the spring. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of John are asked to consider a charity of your choice.
