Brenda "Joan" Markle

MARKLE, Brenda “Joan” - Passed away after a short illness at the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest, Ontario, on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the age of 70.
Joan was born in Markdale, Ontario, on June 20, 1955, the second of three children of the late Earl and Rhodella Markle. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Colton and brother Eddie Markle.
Joan was a retired cook and a long-time resident of the Birmingham Retirement Community in Mount Forest. She is lovingly remembered by her nephews Wade George McHattie and Kenneth Robert McHattie.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Shelburne Cemetery, 156035 Highway 10, Shelburne, Ontario.

You were one of a kind. You dedicated much of your life to looking after your brother Eddie. I don't know if Grandma could have ever done it without you.

I was saddened to read of Joan’s passing. I first met Joan when we became friends at Arthur District High School. Later, I had the privilege of working with Eddie and was reacquainted with Joan. She was always a very lovely caring person willing to help anyone. Joan made the world a better place.
