Peter Sheppit

SHEPPIT, Peter Paul – Passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Welland on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in his 75th year.

Beloved husband of the late Darlene Pappin (2015). Cherished father of Michael Sheppit and his wife Lisa of Grimsby, Paul Sheppit of Burlington, Theresa Sheppit of Burlington, and the late Melinda Sheppit (1990). Dear grandfather of Melinda, Adah, Miah, Zoé, Lucas and Matthew. Survived by his brothers Carl Sheppit of Breslau, George Sheppit and his wife Patty of Mount Forest; as well as his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents George and Mary Sheppit.

Peter will be remembered as a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. A devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens, he rarely missed a game and proudly cheered for his beloved Habs through every season. He had a passion for classic cars and could spend hours talking about them or admiring a well-kept ride. He loved traveling across Canada, especially making trips to Vancouver and taking in the scenery along the way. Whether he was out fishing, enjoying the peace and quiet of the wilderness, or trying his luck at bingo, he was happiest when doing the things he loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Sunday, June 28th from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with prayers at 7:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Purification Church, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest, on Monday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Peter are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
