BANNISTER, Allan Paul – Passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family, at Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, July 12, 2026 in his 83rd year.
Beloved husband of Rose Bannister for 64 years. Loving father of Debra Card (Dean), and Paul Bannister (Trixie). Cherished grandfather of Andrew (Ashley), Josh (Nikki), John, Austin, and Marissa (Justin). Adored great-grandfather of Jacelynn and Naomi. Dear brother of Rick Bannister, Carol Eathorne (Brian), Earl Bannister (Karen); and brother-in-law of Gary Robb. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Joan Bannister, and sister Patricia Robb.
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff of the Louise Marshall Hospital and the Step-Down Unit at Guelph General Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness.
A memorial service will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Wednesday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. If you are unable to attend the service in-person, you are invited to view livestream by clicking the link below. Immediately following the service, all are invited to the Mount Forest United Church Fellowship Hall for a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Allan’s memory may be made to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, Guelph General Hospital Foundation, Cancer Patient Services or Diabetes Canada. Online condolences or donations may be made at www.englandfuneralhome.com

We are so sorry for your loss. He was such a gentleman & kind host. Our visits with you two were special times & he surely loved & was so proud of you & your family. Lots of good memories from Mac Donald appliances & get togethers.
I’m sorry Al, I’m disappointed in myself that I couldn’t get up and speak at your service. It’s always so difficult when it’s someone you love, respect and know I’m going to miss every day. You were the kindest, most gentle person that always had a warm smile for anyone you spent time with. If I had got up to speak I would have asked everyone to try and make the world just a little bit better by being like my big brother, smile and be kind! Love you Al. Miss you already! ❤️

Uncle Allan was the most amazing uncle. His smile would light up the room, and his kind and gentle soul would always make you feel so loved. He had a cheeky sense of humour that would result in the laughs of many around him. His love story with Auntie Rose is one that I’ve loved to learn about. He will be missed by all, but never forgotten. The love that myself and others have for him will forever carry on. I love you uncle Allan.

Best wishes and condolences to Rose and family. I am so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. My association with Al goes way back to playing slo- pitch in Brampton . We crossed paths again in Mount Forest. i was envious of Al’s drafting skills- I certainly could have used his help in high school shops classes. Al was a soft spoken gentleman and a popular member of the Mount Forest Curling Club.
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the memorial service but I will take time to privately celebrate Al’s life.

I always enjoyed coming over when Al called to help figure out things in your new home (some of which I needed to make a phone call or two to get it figured out myself).
Al was such a true gentleman and he certainly loved you very much.
I don’t know a fella that made better use out of his slippers and pyjamas than Al.
