COOK, Wayne – Peacefully at Louise Marshall Hospital on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in his 81st year. He is reunited with his beloved wife Deborah “Debby” Cook. Loving father of Fay Kaye-Peck and her husband Dave of Palmerston, Dennis Kaye and his wife Christina of Mount Forest, Steven Kaye and his wife Elyse of Biggar, Saskatchewan, and Suzanne Kaye and her partner Sean Carrilho of Dundalk. Wayne will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his cousin and her family.
Wayne was very community minded. He was involved in many community organizations and could be found all around town donating his time for what he believed helped his community. When not volunteering, he enjoyed fishing and had lots of adventures with Debby. He enjoyed every moment spent with Debby and his extended family.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be announced soon.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Wayne are asked to consider Cancer Patient Services, Mount Forest.

Wayne was never gifted with too good of eyesight, but that didn’t stop him from squarely placing the paper in my laneway as he and Debbie drove past at 40 mile an hour on their delivery route, never once touching the brake lights.
One day when I saw Wayne downtown, I asked him how he did it. He just had that big smile on his face as he looked at me through those thick glasses of his and said “You’d be surprised what you can get good at if you just keep trying”….I thought to myself - ain’t that the truth!
Debbie was the same age as my youngest sister. When Milton passed away and Debbie met up with Wayne, I was so happy for her. He was such a true gentleman.
As I became friends with Wayne through time, he would make these ginormous Lego sets. It could be a dump truck or a race car or whatever he fancied to build and he would bring them around to the shop and offer them to me for for a very fair dollar amount. I would study them in wonder, as I knew that Wayne probably had 100 hours invested in them and he did a pretty darn good job putting them together.
Wayne would call on me when he got himself in a bit of a predicament, the last time being when he wanted to put a garden shed next to his house and we had to figure out how to make a base to set it on, but we got it done. When you worked for Wayne, you had to work on a shoestring budget, but that was OK by me….I understood Wayne and why it had to be that way.
Mount Forest was truly blessed to have a guy like Wayne. I am going to miss him just as I missed Debbie when she passed.

So sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. He was involved in our agricultural organization and very seldom missed a meeting. He always had a suggestion or a story to tell and helped wherever he could. He was such a kind soul.
