Maya "Mimi" Irving

Maya “Mimi” Irving, 24, of Kingston, Ontario.

Our beautiful, free-spirited Mimi passed away peacefully and began her final great adventure on August 19, 2026.  Mimi lived life to the fullest and with pure authenticity. She was an incredibly talented graphic artist and tattoo artist and a much-loved member of the Ink Well Kingston and Just Poke It, families.

Mimi loved day trips to her favourite beach on Wolfe Island, walking by the lake at night with her beloved rescue dog (Mira), cooking delicious meals in her kitchen and feeding her friends. She loved cuddling up with her book and her 2 cats (Mimikyu & Ruby) during daytime thunderstorms and playing her favourite video games during snowstorms, cozy in her room. She loved working on tattoo designs and creating her beautiful artwork. Mimi crowd surfed at Korn & Deftones concerts where she was front and centre, loved camping, and hiking and Nature. Mimi was fearless and had no regrets, she was spontaneous, open-minded and non-judgemental and saw the good in everything and everyone. Mimi had a soft and vulnerable side, but was fierce when she saw injustice or cruelty, especially towards animals or vulnerable people. Mimi was artistic and creative and loved her Kingston friends old and new. She never found a mosh pit that didn’t have her name on it, she danced until dawn and sang at the top of her lungs, she loved music and sewing, art galleries and museums, the food in Old Quebec, family dinners at her Nana & Granda’s and pool parties with her friends. 

The loves of Mimi’s life were her boyfriend Reese, whose tragic passing on July 16th, 2026 broke her heart. She loved her best friend and roommate Jade who shared Mimi’s love for life and adventures and who was born on the same day. The most important person in the world to Mimi was her little sister Ellie, her lifelong best friend, closest confidante, greatest love and partner in crime.

Mimi is survived by her parents, sister, aunts & uncles, cousins and beloved grandparents. She was our greatest joy, our beautiful Angel, our brightest light, and our hearts are shattered.

Mimi will be missed by a community of friends old & new, who will forever remember her beauty, kindness, laughter and sick sense of humour.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Inkwell Kingston. Guests are encouraged to visit Inkwell Kingston’s Instagram page for details.  Please join us for a night of Music, Art & Remembrance where prints and merch of Mimi’s artwork will be auctioned and all proceeds will go to Salvation Army Kingston to help keep the unhoused community warm this winter. Mimi was passionate about helping people and would spend her last $5 to buy a stranger a hot coffee. She frequently bought gloves & pocket warmers in bulk and would hand them out in the unhoused community of Kingston. Kindness was everything to Mimi, she didn’t always receive it, but she emanated kindness, love and forgiveness. To know Mimi was to love Mimi. She was unconditional love and creativity in human form, and the world is a darker place without her bright beautiful light.
