Gibson (Joy) of Corbeyville, Ontario.  Survived by many wonderful and dear friends, who, through their kindness have made the recent struggles more comfortable. Elsie had a very special relationship with her niece Janet.  The family would like to thank Dr. Daphne Rappard for her unending support and professional guidance. Elsie had a long career in the real estate business in the Guelph area and was the first female president of a Chamber of Commerce in Canada when elected to represent Guelph in 1978.  She was on the Homewood Board of Directors for over 15 years and was active in the creation of the Elridge retirement communities. More recently, she was a founding member of the Cancer Patient Services Corporation of Mount Forest.  Elsie\'s happiest days were quiet days spent with family and friends.  Her unending faith has sustained her throughout her life.  Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Friday, April 20th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  A memorial service celebrating Elsie’s life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Saturday, April 21st at 11 a.m., with visitation at the church prior to the service from 10 – 10:45 a.m.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Cancer Patient Services Corporation of Mount Forest would be appreciated by the family.

Condolences

We are sad to hear of the loss of Elsie, a lovely lady, long time neighbour and good friend to my parents, Sevim and Ned Onen. Many years ago, Elsie and Rae bought the property to the east of our farm and went on to build a beautiful home and energetically set out to transform the property, which they did in short order. They were quite amazing and accomplished a a great deal until they eventually retired from the larger property. They were wonderful neighbours who happily helped out whenever we needed it. Elsie clearly accomplished a great deal in her life and no doubt she will be very much missed. Our condolences to Rae and to the family. Zeynep Onen, Normand Lapointe and Sevim Onen (Neighbours)
