Fern Harriet Aitken (nee Allen), formerly of Holstein, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Sunday, January 14th, 2018 in her 81st year.  Beloved wife of Ellis Aitken.  Loving mother of Larry Aitken and his wife Susan of Holstein, Julie and her husband Gary Wilson of Durham, Sylvia and her husband Jeff Chambers of Sudbury and Dawn and her husband Jim Macumber of Owen Sound.  Cherished grandmother of Kyle Aitken and his wife Katie, Emily Aitken and her fiancée Raphy Guenter, Bob Wilson and his wife Nicole, Brad Wilson and his wife Jessica, Dyson Chambers and his friend Brittany Cook, Astin Chambers, Mason Macumber and Kallen Macumber.  Great-grandmother of Charlotte, Reese, Blake and Jack.  Dear sister of Jean Rooney and Louise Morrison.  Sister-in-law of Eleanor Wride, Carol Thornton and Beverly Aitken.  Fern will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her siblings; Geraldine and her late husband Findlay Lewis, Laura and her late husband Clarence McRobb, Blair Allen and his late wife Inez and Willard Allen and his late wife Marguerite, her brothers-in-law; Elwood Rooney, Ross Morrison, Carl Wride, and her sister-in-law Eileen and her late husband Alan Thornton.  Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Saturday, January 20th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  A celebration of Fern’s life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.  Spring interment of cremated remains will be held at Holstein Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
