Vera Aitken

Vera Grace Aitken (nee Morrison) of Mount Forest passed away at Saugeen Valley Nursing Centre, Mount Forest on Saturday, June 24^th, 2017 in her 96^th year.  Beloved wife of the late Murray Aitken.  Loving mother of Shirley and her husband Kurt Havlas of Caledon East, the late Bert Aitken and his wife Bernice of Mount Forest, Brian Aitken and his wife Doris of Mount Forest, Isabel and her husband Bob Alford of High River, Alberta, and Wanda Aitken and her friend Ralph Bridgland of London.  Cherished grandmother of Lisa and her husband Brad Regan, Heather Aitken and her friend Stuart Husk, Loralee Alford, Robyn Alford, Margaret Beighton and Emily Whalen and fondly remembered by her 8 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of Olive Aitken, Inez and her husband Newman Pratt, Jean and her husband Tom Bovingdon, Raymond Morrison and his wife Karen and sister-in-law of Velma Morrison, Isobel Morrison and Beulah Aitken.  Predeceased by her brothers Royden, Lloyd and Roy Morrison; her sister Hazel and her late husband Walter Northy; and her in-laws Walter Aitken, Harry Aitken and Art and Elizabeth Haas.    Vera loved to garden in the summer, quilt in the winter and play cards.  Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Wednesday, June 28^th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  A celebration of Vera’s life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Thursday, June 29^th at 2 p.m., with visitation at the church prior to the service from 1 – 1:45 p.m.  Interment at Mount Forest Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, Mount Forest United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
