Condolences

Our Deepest Sentiment of shared loss with Jeannette and family at the passing of our dear fraternity brother, Doug. What a gentlemen and natural born leader within Gamma Delta Psi Fraternity International. Doug was a towering figure projecting dignity, integrity and unwavering sense of direction and purpose. We have a saying within our brotherhood...ONCE A BROTHER-ALWAYS A BROTHER. Our pathways crossed long ago in the late 1950's-early 1960's when we were young and full of energy and life. We met again in recent years at fraternity functions in Canada. The bonds of brotherhood never waned, never grew old and were rekindled instantly. Now that Doug has passed from this life there is still a palpable sense of connection with him. Until my dying breath and even beyond, Doug will always be my brother. Rest In Eternal Peace, Dear Grand Brother Doug Jamieson. from Brother Dorsey Howard- Chester, Virginia, USA for the Gamma Delta Psi Historical Society.

Dear Jeannette and family, I was so sorry to hear about Doug's passing - my thoughts and prayers are with you and with him. I knew Doug for over 50 years as a Fraternity brother who contributed greatly to our organization, and whose creativity and sage counsel were instrumental to our growth in North America. I learned a great deal from him personally, and he set an example for all of us to follow. He was named a Grand Brother of Gamma Delta Psi for his commendable achievements. We shall all miss him and honour his work and memory. Sincere condolences, Barry Yeates

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to Doug's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection; this is our hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps. 83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.
