Bernadette Burns
Bernadette Geraldine Burns (nee Garvey), of Mildmay, Ontario in her 86th year, passed away quietly at Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, October 1st, 2016.

Bernadette was a celebrated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of a proud clan. My mother’s achievements are endless and our family will be a ship in a storm without a captain in her absence. Bernadette was a force to reckon with, on a personal or professional level. There was never a detail that went unnoticed, never a worthy battle not fought, but Bernadette was first to offer a helping hand to the community or any family in a moment of need. My mother was a true modern day “Florence Nightingale”. It has been a privilege to be part of her life and a miracle that she has helped so many individuals spiritually, financially or personally to get through those tough times.  Bernadette will be missed… God speed mother!

Bernadette was deeply loved by her late husband Patrick Raymond Burns who passed away in 1975 and by their large clan. Proud mother of Patrick Burns and his wife Judy of Mount Forest, Ontario, Theresa and her husband Gary Kloepfer of Goderich, Ontario, John Burns and his wife Catherine of Campbell River, British Columbia, Dennis Burns and his wife Chrysta of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Wayne Burns of Calgary, Alberta, Stephen Burns of Mildmay, Ontario, and the late Mary Ann Burns (September 11, 2016) of Simcoe, Ontario.  Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.  Dear sister of John Garvey and wife Catherine, and Mary (Garvey) and her husband Joe Stroeder all of Hanover, Ontario.  Predeceased by parents Ambrose and Marie Garvey and her siblings Bernard Garvey, Reta Fortney, Frank Garvey, Jerome Garvey, Patrick Garvey, Leona Grubb, Helen Hinsperger and Raymond Garvey.

Friends may call at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Thursday, October 6th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Purification Roman Catholic Church, Mount Forest on Friday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m., with visitation prior to Mass from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.  Interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Kenilworth. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to your local Catholic Church or to the Fatima Centre (Fort Erie) would be appreciated by the family and may be made through the England Funeral Home.
