Such sad news, Mount Forest lost a great one. Jean's love of her family and her love for Mount Forest and its history will be sadly missed. Jean had such enthusiasm about her it was contagious, just being around her made you smile. What I will remember most about her is her caring attitude towards people, always a kind word for each and every person. Jean made a person realize that the history of Mount Forest is important and must be documented and cherished. I will miss her. Kindest regards. Cheryl (Bye) Murphy

I would like to send my sympathy to John and Margie and their families in this time of sorrow. Jean was a family friend for as long as I can remember and her sense of humor is one of my fondest memories. Take comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with her loved ones. What a ball they must be having!

One of the things I appreciated, as a business person, in Mount Forest was the constant support I received from Jean. Her no nonsense approach and good sense of humour were always refreshing. After twelve years of doing business on the main street, she is one of the characters I will always remember in a positive light. Doug and I were sorry to hear of her death and our sympathy goes out to her family. Sincerely, Jeannette Jamieson

We are very sorry to hear of Jeanie's passing. We fondly remember her pleasant greetings in the library at MFDHS, in Tim Horton's, or wherever we met her. She was always a straight shooter and she always made you feel better after having met her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Jean was a friend of my family for as long as I can remember and was a welcome guest in our home at any time. My sister, Audrey, grew up with Jean and was a live-long school chum of Jean's. Jean has accomplished a lot of things for her very passionate Mount Forest. Her spirit will live on in the memories of everyone that knew her. My sincere sympathy in your loss. To Margaret & Arnold, John & Pat, Sonny & Kerren: Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time. Jeannie will be missed by the Watsons, especially Katelynn & Carlee, who Jeannie called "my girls". Jeannie had suggested at last year's annual church meeting that the girls be asked to conduct the 2009 anniversary service which they did. She was very proud of them. When Jeannie thanked anyone, she would add "you'll get your reward in heaven" & I know that is what she is doing now. Love from Carol & Ron, Mark, Ashlee, Matthew, Katelynn & Carlee Watson

— Carol Watson, January 5, 2010

I have fond memories of Jeannie when she was Mount Forest correspondent for the Kitchener-Waterloo Record and I was a reporter, whom she always called "Sir Robert." She was always a bright spot in a hectic day for us reporters who took correspondents' copy by phone. Ever the dedicated correspondent, she even called me at home on a weekend to report an airplane crash in the Mount Forest area. On one occasion, she and Campbell Cork, her successor as Record correspondent, came to Kitchener for a visit and it was great to match the voice with the face. In recent years, we met Carman and Florence Noble from Mount Forest at the Dunes of Panama, Panama City Beach, Fla., and I passed greetings to Jeannie through them. I remember her, even seven years after I retired from the Record, as being a delightful person with a risque sense of humor, a bluntness and dedication that made her special. She was one great gal. Please accept my condolences for the loss of someone whom I remember with fondness. I'm sure she will be missed. Sincerely Bob Hoops

When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead. But I know she is up there having the party, dancing, singing and playing the spoons. Let's celebrate her life as she would want us too. Love Ang
