Norman “Norm” Ferguson
FERGUSON, Norman “Norm” – Gently passed away at his residence in Port Elgin on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 in his 86th year.  Cherished husband of Derlene Ferguson (née Ross) for 65 years.  Loving Dad of Perry Ferguson (Cindy-Lee Rogers), Dwayne (Terry) Ferguson, Jill Dee Ferguson (Marcus MacRae) and PJ (Steve) Sparks.  Fun-loving “Pops” of Chloe, Dayna, Nathan, Lindsey, Tayler, Hayley, Carlin, and Abbey.  Beloved “Papa” of seven great-grandchildren.  Survived by his siblings: Jessie, Joyce, Mike (Edna), and Barb (John) and brother-in-law of Keith, Barry (Marion), John (Bonnie), and Penny.  Norm will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends both at Port Elgin and Sugar Creek, Florida.  Predeceased by his parents Irwin and Janet Ferguson as well as several brothers and sisters.  Norm and Derlene were the founders of Voyageur Transportation, an enterprise that further flourished under their sons’ leadership.  Norm’s entrepreneurial spirit also inspired his daughters to start and grow ABL Employment.  A man with an admirable work ethic, a laid-back calmness, a love of family, card playing and fishing…he enjoyed a full life of good times with family and friends.  Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest, on Monday, March 22nd, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 and 4:00-6:00 p.m.  In order to attend the visitation, you must contact the funeral home to register by e-mail at info@englandfuneralhome.com or calling (519) 323-2631.  Please note: as per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance numbers will be restricted, masks are mandatory and COVID-19 protocols are in place.  A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m.  Extended family and friends are invited to view the service livestream by visiting: https://www.facebook.com/England-Funeral-Home-1863283503935858.  Spring interment will be held at Holstein Cemetery.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Norm are asked to consider the Jack Drury Memorial, c/o WES for Youth Online.

Dear Perry and all the Ferguson family, I am very sorry for your loss. You are probably remembering so many wonderful times with him at Port Elgin and the recent family vacations. I have very fond memories when I think of Norm. Welcoming us unruly teens to Port Elgin, providing buses for concerts, being a cool dad starting a company with Derlene! He will be greatly missed. Thinking of you all and sending you virtual hugs. XO Molly Marrack

Condolences to the Ferguson family for their loss. Norm didn’t let age or physical constraints limit his time spent with Family and friends. My boys and I enjoyed the time we spent fishing with Norm at QCL. We remember our dinners, his sense of humour and stories. You can tell he loved being on the trip and especially spending time with his two special and generous sons. Norm was certainly a special addition to our trip and I believe he caught one, if not the biggest Salmon of the trip. Rob Pike and the entire Pike Family.
