Meagan Byers

BYERS, Meagan Janelle – Tragically, as the result of a car accident on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the age of 22 years. Beloved daughter of Mark and Joanne Byers. Cherished sister of Ashley Byers and her partner Brock Doney, and Justin Byers and his wife Becca. Proud Aunt “Bug” of Brooklynn and Lennox Doney. Meagan will be missed by her good friend Travis Lee, and her dog Marlow. Loving granddaughter of Leslie and Virginia Byers, and Ronald Weber and his friend Marion Officer. Predeceased by her infant brother, Brendan, Grandma Yvonne Weber, Aunt Janice Bye, and cousins Mason Bye and Suzy Quesnel. Meagan is remembered with love by her aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.

Meagan was a dedicated coach with Mount Forest Minor Hockey and Mount Forest Minor Baseball. She played baseball and hockey in Mount Forest, Durham and surrounding areas. She was a member of the Mohawk College Softball Team. Meagan was in the process of obtaining her Early Childhood Education Diploma and loved to rave about her “kids” for whom she cared. Words cannot express your loss. It is with broken hearts we send this message. Your sorrow will be monumental. We send prayers, love, comfort and hugs. Lean on your family and friends. Hold on tightly to each other and your beautiful memories.

— Charlotte and Dave Martz, Les McComb and Millie Marshall, December 10, 2021

We share much sadness with our community, the passing of our beloved Meagan. Player, coach and huge fan of the game of baseball; Meagan spent little time away from the diamond. When she was not off playing with her friends and family, she spent her extra time helping young girls learn and love the game. The Maverick Organization will greatly miss Meagan's energy and passion towards female fastball here in Mount Forest. Our thoughts and prayers are with Meagan's family.

Mark and Joanne
All these years at the PDH I don't think I ever met Megs, and I call her that because at work, that is how Mark always referred to her, 'my Megs' he would say and then on with the story. And the stories there were plenty, all good ones, full of love and admiration, care and concern and lots of funny one's too. Like when Marley came home, that made me laugh.
I always liked being caught up on all the home events, the babies, the dog, the house, all the family events. After hearing all the love Mark has for all his children and his family, it is so hard to imagine even for a outsider like myself how you will put the pieces back together, if ever. We are all saddened for your loss Mark here and we think about you all the time and we are all in shock and wish we could do something to help. I hope you know we are here for you we care and we are constantly wishing we could change this for you.

To the family of Megan Byers
Megan played hockey with my grandsons, Zachary & Benjamin Acres and I drove to all their games. I loved to tease her to give me a kiss after the games, she would come running to me with "Hi, Mr Acres". Sometimes she gave me a hug & kiss and other times she would play shy. Great little hockey goalie and a wonderful, full of fun young girl.
She WILL be missed by many and my sincere condolences to all - a young life taken much too soon.

Thinking of you all at this very difficult time. We were fortunate to know your family through the Palmerston Marlins fastball team and when Meagan and our younger daughter were two female goalies on predominantly male teams in the same league, and played against each other. We always had such fun at our ball tournament weekends. Meagan had the biggest eyes and the biggest smile to match. Hugs to you all.

To the Byers Family,

Meagan was a beautiful soul, who had the brightest light. I knew her from when she had her placement at Arthur Y daycare. She was one of my sons favorite teachers. Declan (my son) would light up when he saw her, she also would stop in to see him when she was working at subway. It was a true honor to have known her. You must be so proud to have raised a young lady like Meagan. My heart is broken for you- her family and all who knew her. Sending you all so much love, peace, strength and light during this most difficult time. May Meagan rest in beautiful paradise.

Our sincere heartfelt sympathy on the sudden death of your dear loved one. We will pray that Our Lord will guide you through this tragedy and you will treasure your happy memories. Life will never be the same without her. Hug often and talk about her whenever you feel like it with your many friends and family who will be happy to listen. We truly care and have some understanding of the pain and hurt you feel as my younger brother, age 19 was killed in a single vehicle accident, at noon with good weather conditions many years ago. Know that we care. May her soul Rest in Peace.

— Bob & Mary McIntee, December 9, 2021

If the walls at Egremont Community School could talk, they would remember a bubbly, little girl who, with her natural disposition, grew to be a heartfelt Caregiver of many young ones in her Community. I treasure the things that I have learned from Meagan.
